The Benton county Secondary Road Department will apply a dust control agent to help alleviate the dust problem. Rural residents may choose the county or a private contractor and must obtain a permit from the Benton County Engineer's Office at 1707 West First Street, Vinton, Iowa 52349. An approved list of private contractors is available.
The DEADLINE FOR FILING IS MAY 1st
If you had the county apply dust control last year and the treatment area is in good condition or better, you may choose an exemption permit instead. This will allow one to keep the existing dust control area, however, no new material will be applied. If the existing area deteriorates to an unacceptable level, this area will be scarified and reverted back to a rock surface. The deadline for this permit is the same.
